 Game related stuff:

There has to be something "special" with a game which is still played and has a active community after 15 years (release 05.12.1999) The skill-level increased every year, which separates quake from many other games and communities who claim to be "on top of the skill" after 1-2 years. Most of the top players have accumulated more than 6.000h playtime.

Here you will find some of the best and memorable games from my collection, on a scale of 10 (mathematical possible in the game) these games show:

Aim: 8,5/10
Movement: 9,0/10
Timing: 8,0/10
Tactics: 8,5/10

Interesting that it took 3 years of inactivity (3-6h / quake per month) to "constitute" this, maybe some things just take some time to get better just like a good whiskey ;). Of course there where matches whit higher accuracy but skill means to hit the crucial shot, make the right decision under pressure when it counts.

Convention-X-treme 19 (2015) Quake
Two veterans play it out on zTn3 and proT4, 13years of experience on each end of the line on two maps, 140 bpm (heart :))
perfect play laMagra, hats off man.

Semifinal:

1. MAP ztn3tourney1 (lamas choice)
8:15 -> [xs1]Wipe /quits - a 9 frag deficit and 7 minutes left ....
8:45 -> [xs1]Wipe /quits - laMagra survived with just 14 health ... ;)
12:12 -> 110dmg / 100% shotgun hit right in the face --- not good
13:00 -> [xs1]Wipe /quits
15:00 -> persistency win´s the game!

"Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail." (Ralph Waldo Emerson)

2. MAP pro-q3tourney4 (my choice)

1:00 Yellow-Armor left -> Respawn: 1:25 ( i knew i would respawn at the other side -> YA)
1:07 Yellow-Armor right (delayed, i wanted to get the left YA and afterwards the right) that’s like gambling, if it works, the next 4-6 minutes are yours, if not the other way around)
4:48 - lama goes all in
6:20 - lama goes all in stacked with mega health

Semifinal vs - Lord - 67:

zTn3tourney1
Between 6:40 - 7:30 he lost hold of the match, the missed / unchallenged mega health at 7:12 costs him the game.

A good example for a game with high scores but the damage given difference is negligible. 9 frags difference = 100health (=900 dmg)  and the dmg given difference is 1099 -> -900 = 199dmg.

Overall Final:
Pro-Q3DM6
0:00 - Shotgun spawn means hard work (yellow armor 50 vs Red 100 + Mega 100) so this is the worst possible situation. But lama get´s greedy...

8:34 - Lama goes all in -  his aim was better (Health 172 / Armor 86 vs 100/ 50) -> this situation decided the game, leaving this red armor unchallenged would cost him the game so, on some days you have to make decisions.
Was a honor man!

Next time i bring an heart rate monitor, would be interesting to see the bpm in real-time.... keeping up a 50% aim under these conditions.. omg! :)

2014 Lan Finals.

Practise match vs Lord67

PT4 the first 5 mins made me sweat, really :)

So here we go, "the lion´s den", after 10 years it was time for a final visit to the "Ruhrpott", no room for mistakes -> Junien 2015 Quake Final

Content? Soon!

TT-LAN 2015

featuring: TC-ASSASSIN, dwc-lamagra, ssc-plexus ....

 1. Map. ASSASSIN´s choice

2. Map. [xs1]Wipe choice

After a "streaky" first map ztn3 11 to 31, i secured my home map pro-q3tourney 19 to 16 after 15 strenuous minutes, so now its time for the tie-breaker.

3. Map - "the nailbiter"

A small "workout" and allways remember kids, dont cross the red line! Full-throttle from 55 to 153bpm, V(O2)max is 171 so theres still room for improvement!

153 bpm max at 13:13 score 10-10 (see chart), thats life :)

Towel please :)

At the end it is important to have all 4 disciplines maxed out.

Movement - max "forward" movement speed is ~700ups but dodging is also important

AIM - there is no absolute number, the scoreboard at the end shows the total accuracy of the whole match. The in fight accuracy should be >50% for all weapons but in the end hitting the crucial shots wins the game.
Most of the shots are barrage / spamming to distract your enemy or to block paths.

Timing -possible the hardest thing to keep track off in the heat of battle

Here is an very simplified exampled for the timing mechanic, the goal is to build up situations where you can reach all items in time and avoid situations where important items convergence.

This show´s a simplified timing table of a 15 minute 1v1 match. When every item is picked up after it´s regular (25 / 35s) respawn-time this "picture" show´s the crucial moments when two or more item´s spawn at the same time which means you and your enemy will get one item. But the target is to delay item´s and keep your enemy away from item´s, so these "converging-points" can be created to even out the balance of health / armor. To outsmart your enemy (or not to be out-smarted) you have to be aware of all timings and possible situations which can be "created" in the next 4 minutes (!) by delays or shifts in the timing table. Good luck calculating and keeping that in mind while playing.

Tactics - At the end, when all 3 disciplines above, are maxed out this makes you win the game. Even with an aimbot (100% aim), dynamic timing table (cheat), and movement hack you will lose against a well-rounded player. Best example is the 2004 developed "Spiter-Bot" which is an computer bot with 100% accuracy, perfect movement (700ups) and priority timing.

So if two player have the same aim, movement, map-knowledge the dance begins. Everybody has its strengths and weaknesses the key is to identify your enemy´s strengths (first!) to avoid situations where you get overpowered. Second the weaknesses which you can exploit and build up situations e.g. keep him away from his preferred weapon and lure him into “uncomfortable” situations.

3 phase of success -> /quit here -> lose

The only thing which separates the boys from the sissys

And don’t let yourself be fooled by people who say "it´s so easy to achieve xyz..." it´s always hard work, other ppl just want to mislead their environment to reduce the number of possible competitors.

So the secret of success, get ready for a long journey, be willing to make sacrifices, eliminate all distractions and:

Good luck and have fun
